June 18 Day 17 74 miles

We rode from Fruita, mostly under cloudy skies, through the town of Delta, to Montrose, CO.

There were occasional glimpses of the ravines that penetrate the landscape, draining into nearby rivers, and eventually the Colorado River. The rain finally caught up with us at the end of the ride, dampening the last hour.

This curious statue bids us farewell from Fruita.

The ride offers familiar landscapes.

SAG stops provide the usual fare. There are granola bars, fig newtons, bananas, goldfish, cookies, and raisins. Today's stop also included pickles and watermelon! It is a continuous munch fest at the SAG, then back on the bicycles.

We are starting to see more in the way of wildflowers.

This curiosity greeted us in Delta,CO.

The small town of Delta is known for its murals, mostly on the walls of businesses. We had some fun with these.

We were trying to outrun this storm all afternoon. In the end, it caught us, leaving Michael a bit damp and spattered.

We had another statue greet us at the end of the journey , in Montrose.

At last, we arrive at our hotel.
