June 29 Day 28 107 miles
This has got to be one of our hardest days. Due to the forecast for hot weather, we started at 6:30, as soon as they would let us load our luggage. Passing a bank at 7:00 AM, we noted that it was already 86 degrees. Clearly, this was going to be a hot day. The van was available every 10 miles or so, to refill water bottles since we were consuming a quart or more of water per hour. And it then gushed out of ever pore.
The second half of the trip went through the Flint Hills, an area with almost no development and continuous rolling hills. I must say, I was pretty dried out by the end of the day.
We start early, loading the van as the sun comes up.

We pass through a few small towns, with very little local industry other than farming.
The van stop wherever it can to provide us with water.

The last leg of the journey takes us through the Flint Hills. This produces a long series of rolling hills, that goes on for miles.
Oh man, Jamie, I don't see how you do it. I would be limp after 15 minutes of riding in that heat. Sounds like murder! How you can keep up the cycling in that heat all day long is beyond me! Good job!!!!
And real cool photo in White City.
Hope you get a rest day soon. Heat helps those crops to grow! Keep it up.
Good ole midwestern heat! 2k before July! Rock on.....
